Breaking: Gunmen Kill Labour Party Candidate In Imo State
Unknown gunmen on Friday morning allegedly killed the 2023 Labour Party, LP, candidate for Onuimo constituency in Imo state, Christopher Elehu.
An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen said the incident happened early hours of the day.
The eyewitness alleged that Elehu, was “Attacked with cutlass and his properties set ablaze by the said hoodlums. They also attacked so many houses and shot sporadically. They injured many and the residents flee.”
Reacting, the Imo state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Micheal Abattam, said: “It is under investigation and the command has sent our men to the area for surveillance and patrol.”
Recall that few weeks ago, the candidate of the labour party in Okigwe, Chukwunoneye Iruno, reportedly slumped and died in a hospital a day to the Presidential rally of the labour party in Imo.
Panic And Gunshots in Ebonyi As IPOB enforces Sit-At-Home Order
Residents of Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State in Nigeria, has been thrown in state of panic and fear following the enforcement of a sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Reports suggest that IPOB members were seen shooting in the Ebebe market, causing passersby to flee for safety.
There are unconfirmed reports of fatalities. Markets including Ahia-ofu, Kpirikpiri, the International market, and the Ebebe market in Abakaliki were said to be in confusion. Customers at a United Bank for Africa branch were reportedly trapped inside the building.
A resident of Abakaliki told our reporters: “I am taking refuge in a hotel now. I went to buy a recharge card opposite the government house when I saw people running helter-skelter.
“People hurriedly parked their things inside their shops while traffic Policemen on duty opposite government house immediately changed their clothes.
“I drove out of that area following heavy gunshots to Kpirikpiri, where the road is deserted. People have parked their things inside their shops along that old Enugu road.
“If you are still in your houses, remain there untill calm returns.”
Major streets in the city were deserted as residents sought safety in their homes or nearby compounds. Security forces were reportedly on the scene trying to restore order.

The police in Owerri, Imo state have killed three armed men who were linked to separatist Simon Ekpa during an attack on an INEC facility.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, and the men managed to burn part of the facility before the police intervened. The police engaged the attackers in a shootout, resulting in the deaths of three gang members. One member of the group was reportedly captured alive by the police. Several residents of Owerri were present at the scene and were able to retrieve their stolen phones and cash.
Recalled that Simon Ekpa and his separatist group has declared a 5 day sit-at-home order in the South East, starting and many people have been killed since last week in attempt to enforce this order.
Fire Guts Bridge Head Market Onitsha
A mysterious fire has erupted in Ogbo Osisi, timber dealers section of Head Bridge market Onitsha destroying goods and properties worth millions. The fire according to eye witness started at the late hours of Saturday night after the traders might have closed for the day, destroying goods worth millions.
The fire service team are currently battling to put off the fire as of the time of filling this report. The cause of the fire has not been yet ascertained.
This is the second fire incident in the market in a row of two months. In November, several persons were injured after a blast, suspected to be a chemical explosion rocked the popular Ogbo Ogwu section of the market burning and destroying numerous shops.
